Salute to the Troops

The next three were taken a year or so ago at my brothers place on the plains of Illinois just west of Chicago.
My God-son/nephew Joey wanted me to take a photo of him saluting. He was thinking of the troops in Iraq. He sings Johnny Cash as he runs around with his cap gun defending the homestead from Islamo-terrorists. That's right Joey...for God & Country.

K-Stienight

This was taken around 10:30pm using a rock to steady the camer which accounts for the list to the right. I guessed at the focusing and counted to 15 for the shutter. Since I'm easily impressed by the camera's ability to turn night into day, I thought I would post it. S-15 sec. F/2.8 ISO-400

The Reader

This photo was taken before I knew what I was doing with the camera. (Which still may be the case.) In the low light the shutter speed was slow and I didn't have a tri-pod so it blurred the image. Also, in low light using manual focus it is difficult to see when the image is in focus. The auto focus doesn't seem to be very accurate in these lighting situations. I did some very slight alterations in Photoshop and this is the result.

PS: This was a candid photo taken from across the room using the zoom.
PPS: For any curious types, Fujifilm S7000, Shutter: 1/8 sec. F-stop: 3.1, 400 ISO...
